After graduating with a masters in chemistry from the university of Oxford i moved back home. While living at home I was given the opportunity of tutoring a few GCSE students and found the work very rewarding. I currently work in a lab as an analytical scientist in the pharmaceutical industry. I would like to carry on tutoring subjects I have a passion for to pass on my enthusiasm to the next generation.
The beginning of my tutoring was with my younger siblings in secondary school, and I have been helping them with their maths and science homework as long as they've been bringing it home. I also attended a boarding school as a day student, where homework was often done in the school which means that in my later years at the school I spent a good proportion of my evenings helping younger students understand their work. Since graduating University I have been tutoring for 4 years with 8 fantastic students.
I believe in a friendly approach to tutoring. While I believe it is important to follow the syllabus I also think it can be helpful to allow students to ask questions about the topics that may not be covered to allow for a greater breadth of learning and to foster interest in the subjects.
