I received an Honours degree in Primary Education from The University of Strathclyde in 2010 and a Masters Degree in Education with Merit in 2017. I am a friendly person with a caring nature. I believe that all children are capable of achievement and attainment if they are encouraged and are given valuable time. I am a patient reliable person and take pride in my work and my achievements. I get on well with children and adults as I am an approachable person and have built up a good rapport with my current colleagues.
I am currently a Head Teacher of a Primary School.
I have previously planned and implemented Curriculum for Excellence within all stages of the primary school.
I have been private tutoring for 15 years.
I have been trained in a Curriculum for Excellence, Active Literacy, Active Numeracy, Co-operative Learning, Assessment is for Learning, Teaching Writing and Behaviour Management. I was also seconded between 2019 and 2022 as part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge to raise attainment in maths and numeracy. This is an area of speciality for me.
I keep up to date with all relevant literature related to education and continually develop my professional practice through any cpd opportunities.
I believe in an interactive approach to teaching and learning. The children should be actively engaged in all learning. This allows the knowledge and skills to become real to them, making the learning meaningful. I will provide interactive work, mental stimulation with knowledge and skill development activities. Attainment and achievement will also be monitored continously. Assessment will inform the next steps within the learning.
