I am semi retired and have recently moved to Preston. I have been in education for 35years and have taught GCSE through to A level and be involved in pastoral work in school. I have two daughters and two grandsons 2yrs and 3yrs old.My philosophy is that encouragement is the key to learning.
I have 100% pass rate in all subjects taught - Economics, Business and History. I have been a Deputy Head for the last 6 years and been involved in the Pastoral care of pupils as well as teaching; this has given me a good understanding on how to approach tutees individually. I have helped to write Individual education plans and made the learning pupil- centred.I like to consider the learning style that best suits the pupil.I am an examiner in Histoy for a major examination board.
To build a good rapport between the tutor and tutee. To encourage the tutee to put their best effort into their studies. To encourage self-belief and a 'can-do' attitude. It's important to ascertain the learning style of the pupil so that we can maximise the learning experience breaking down the topics into 'bite-size'. The tutee must experience progress after each session.
