Hello, my name is Lewis. I have a Masters degree in Theoretical Physics, and have completed a PGCE in secondary science, with significant experience during said PGCE teaching secondary mathematics.
I have 5 years of experience teaching further maths in school, college, and tutoring settings. This was split into 3 years in schools & colleges teaching GCSE, A-Level, BTEC, and IB students, and have since spent 2 years tutoring individuals and classes aged 5 - 19. On average, my students gain between +0.5 and +1.0 grade due to their time with me.
My teaching style involves me initially tackling individual problems and any topics that students may be struggling with, and then moving onto things like exam or coursework practice to build up the skills needed to get students where they need to be.
I believe that every student deserves to succeed, and that with work, patience, understanding, all students can excel.
I am available most days of the week during the afternoon and evenings— with the possibility of mornings for any early risers!
I have taught over 500 students at GCSE and A-Level, in addition to running afterschool revision workshops and engineering clubs. Each of my classes has graduated with an above average A* - C pass rate, with the vast majority going on to top UK universities. As well as teaching, I can offer assistance with UCAS applications and personal statements, particularly in my University subject of MSci Physics with Theoretical Physics.
I will teach students of GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics of all ability levels, ensuring that each tutee gets their time in the spotlight to work on what they really need. My lessons will be divided into interactive instructions, in-depth question time, followed by practice with full feedback. I believe that students learn best in a comfortable environment where they are curious about the subject, and I try my utmost to ensure each lesson is interesting for every student.
