I am a History BA student at the University of Oxford going into my second year. I love learning, but understand feeling behind in a subject, or struggling to understand certain concepts. My aim is to help you/your child wrap their head around things and get comfortable with the curriculum and exams, whilst also, hopefully, developing a genuine joy and interest in the content.
I assisted in tutoring a child German as a teenager. More recently, I was an au-pair in Germany, where I taught English as a second language to children aged 3, 7, and 9. My experience leans towards younger children, but, in the more casual experience which I have teaching GCSE/A-level content, I know it is something I enjoy and am good at, striking a balance between making strong progress in the subject but also learning to enjoy it.
I am also DBS checked and trained in paediatric first aid.
Understanding how you revise and working out what aspects of a course pique your interest the most are vital for getting to grips with ans getting good grades in a subject. Exploring revision techniques, but also exploring the contents of the course and seeing what fits are a great launchpad for quickly getting to grips with the subject, where English GCSEs and A-levels can often be very content-heavy. Finding fun and joy in a subject, exploring 'reading around' and discussion, and translating this into exam and essay skills can be a really good foundation.
