Private Chemistry and Biology Tutor in Ashbourne

Hi there, I'm Laurie! I am a GCSE Biology and Chemistry tutor, and I teach students the techniques I used to get grade 9s in GCSE Biology and Chemistry, and A*A*A in A level Psychology, Biology, and Chemistry, whilst guiding them through their course to ensure their best grade possible. I am a friendly and driven young man who just recently finished his A-levels, so I am able to relate to the students on a deeper level to most tutors and I am more understanding of the issues that students face during their time at GCSE. I look forward to seeing you on the other side :)

(P.S. I am new to tutoring so the low prices won't stay for long, so if I were you I'd jump at the opportunity because in the months to come other students will be paying higher prices, whilst you'd still be paying the same low price as a gift for your support from the very start!)

Tutoring Experience

I am only recently finished with my full-time education at school, but still have some experience. I have taught basic English and Maths successfully to underprivileged children in Tanzania, aided multiple peers in achieving the grades they desired and further at GCSE and A level, and am currently tutoring a GCSE student for AQA Biology

Tutoring Approach

My approach is to focus on building the student/s understanding of the content rather than memorising it, allowing them to apply their knowledge to a variety of different contexts and boosting their confidence, and will stay concentrated on the specification. I will do this through:

  • Active recall techniques, forcing the students to reinforce their understanding of the information

  • Application to real exam questions, allowing the students to develop both their exam confidence and technique, as well as practicing applying their knowledge to foreign contexts

  • Praise and recognition of the student's hard work and progress, further building their confidence

  • Going above and beyond just the one hour lessons to ensure the student's understanding, for example: feedback after each lesson, preparation for the lessons, checking through the student's work, and more.
