I am 23 years old and currently doing my teacher training at Exeter University in secondary school science.
I am a welcoming, patient and approachable person and aim to provide variety during tutoring sessions. I have always lived in Devon and I am looking forward to the contributing to the world of teaching, following training.
Rated 'outstanding' by OFSTED, Exeter university's PGCE course prepares trainees to become thoughtful, creative teachers. Two thirds of the course are spent training in schools, and the remainder reflecting and developing skills.
While studying Natural Sciences (chemistry and pharmacology) at the University of Bath, I tutored science and maths, both face-to-face and via an online tutoring platform.
I have also held many different jobs, ranging from an industrial research placement year at GlaxoSmithKline during my degree, to a healthcare assistant at Lloyd's Pharmacy, all the way to working in a chip shop!
My tutoring approach is to work with students to identify and resolve any learning barriers or areas of concern. Tuition will be informal and I would encourage questions at all times. I have access to lots of resources including my own, which will ensure a variety of teaching methods to appeal to all types of students.
I am a firm believer in early exam question practice to familiarise students with the exam format and what is expected of them. This makes exams feel less daunting when it comes to sitting them. I can speak from experience in this respect, as this played the main role in achieving the grades I needed.
