Being a university student currently myself, I understand the difficulty of organising your own revision and working on skills independently. I can relate to the frustration of feeling overwhelmed by an academic challenge, which positions me well to help others based on my own experiences. I aspire to empower other students to gain confidence in their studies, both within my classes and through the opportunity to apply the skills they learn to any additional, individual study they decide to undertake.
During the academic year of 2023, I was a teaching assistant in two secondary schools in France. This was an experience which I really loved because of the excitement of students in response to developing their skills and knowledge. I hope to allow all of my students to love the process of learning, as well as reach their full potential.
I am currently a student at the University of Oxford who has studied both English and French literature for the past four years. Prior to this, I obtained an A* in English Literature and French at A Level and a grade 9 for both subjects at GCSE (as well as in English Language).
I teach both A Level and GCSE English Literature and French for all examination boards. I also help students to prepare for entry exams to university related to literature (such as the ELAT), languages (such as the MLAT) or otherwise requiring essay skills. For younger students (primary school and secondary school up to Year 9), I am happy to help students build confidence in their skills for either of these subjects.
My lesson plans will be tailored according to your specific needs and the texts you are studying. For English Literature, this can include (but is not limited to) improving close reading skills, widening a contextual and historical understanding of texts, developing essay writing skills and an giving you an exposure to reading critical articles for studies in Higher Education.
For French, we will build from a strong foundation of grammar and vocabulary before moving into more complex structures and developing the skill set to understand unseen passages or recordings of French. For A Level students, I can also assist with writing essays in French and analysing literature. This can of course be tailored to suit your needs.
I am flexible about the duration of lessons, which will be priced according to my hourly rate.
