I am an editor, writer and tutor. I have two degrees from the University of Edinburgh and a proofreading qualification, as well as 15 years experience proofreading, tutoring and coaching.

I enjoy working with people and helping them to make their work the best it can be. I know that university can be a challenging time, either due to the change in academic setting, or to the change from one country to the next, and I like helping people to overcome this and produce quality pieces of work.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced tutor, editor, proofreader and writer. For the last 15 years I have been working as a proofreader, editor, tutor and writing coach. I have an undergraduate and a research master’s degree in English literature from the University of Edinburgh, as well as a qualification in proofreading. I have extensive experience working on academic essays, research and publications.

Tutoring Approach

Academic tutoring in essay and dissertation writing, assignment completion and essay and dissertation research for undergraduate and masters students in arts and humanities subjects. Proofreading and editing in all subject areas at all levels. The tutoring service is designed for those who find themselves struggling or overwhelmed at university, unsure of how to approach an independent research project, or experiencing difficulty adapting to the university style of study.

Whilst I am based in Leeds, all tutoring is conducted remotely and I work with students at universities across the UK. This can be via Zoom, Google Hangouts or over the phone. This approach will usually involve both meetings and notes and feedback on your essays/projects sent via email. I’m also happy to have a free consultation over the phone before we begin so we can work out if I’m able to provide the service you’re looking for.

The cost of tutoring is £25 per hour and generally we will meet as often as you need to work on the project of your choice; this can be an essay, presentation, dissertation or whatever you feel needs work. Alternatively, we can train your academic writing skills with pieces and short projects that I can set, building up your confidence as an independent researcher and academic writer. I also work with students on building exam essay skills.
