I'm a Psychology Teacher with over a decade's experience mainly teaching on the AQA specifications. I have also been an examiner for AQA since 2015. Furthermore, as a qualified SENCO, I have experience of working with learners with special educational needs, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, Aspergers, Autism, sensory impairment and social, emotional and mental health difficulties. I have knowledge and experience in Access Arrangement Assessment and on the regulations for the use of arrangements such as extra time, readers and scribes in GCSE and A Level exams. I would be glad to offer support and guidance, alongside subject tuition, for the effective and appropriate use of access arrangements in exams.
I have over a decade of experience in teaching Psychology, mainly working in Further Education and Sixth Form Colleges, and but I have also worked in a number of Secondary Schools. I have mostly taught the AQA specification of both GCSE and A Level Psychology. I have experience with the old AQA A and B specifications and the new AQA A Level specification. I also have experience as an examiner marking exam papers for AQA on the PSYA4 paper and, more recently, paper 3 of the new specification of exams. The topics I have the most experience in, as well as the compulsory year one topics, are:
Stress,
Relationships,
Aggression,
Eating Behaviour,
Depression,
Schizophrenia,
Addiction.
I consider myself to be very flexible and open to the needs of each individual learner. Everyone learns differently and I am more than happy to explore different approaches to learning with each of my clients, including multi-sensory strategies, exam-focussed tuition, interactive tasks, discussion-based learning and any other strategies or learning styles that are most effective or appropriate for you. As stated above, I have experience of working with learners from a variety of backgrounds, including learners with special educational needs who may need a more adaptive style of learning. For this reason, I'm confident that we can work together to find a style that suits us both.
