I am an experienced GCSE and A Level teacher who is currently Head of Department at an independent school where business is one of the most popular subjects. I am also a senior examiner.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching and I am passionate about my subject. This, along with my approachable and supportive nature enables me to develop excellent relationships with students and help them reach their full potential.
As part of my role as a teacher, I run support sessions for students which involve both small groups and one-to-one sessions depending on the individual needs. In doing so, I am able to tailor both the content of my sessions and my teaching approach to the needs of the students which ensures that they gain the support they need to progress.
I am currently a senior examiner for AQA and have extensive experience of two other examination boards. As such, my role requires me to lead a team of examiners through the examination process and provide advice and guidance to them to ensure that they thoroughly understand the mark schemes presented to them. This knowledge of exam specifications enables me to coach students to develop a logical chain of reasoning in order for them to gain maximum marks.
My approach to teaching takes into account the individual needs of the student. I feel that it is important to first determine the level and learning style of the student so that future sessions can be personalised to meet their needs.
As a tutor, my role will be to help students understand new topics as well as address any areas of confusion. Through the use of past papers we will analyse examination questions and case studies to help ensure that they feel well prepared and confident when entering an examination.
