I am a Chemistry first year student at UCL
AAA at A level in Maths, Biology, and Chemistry
Nine 7-9 grades at GCSEs
I have a younger brother with autism to whom I teach English grammar and conversation, therefore I am experienced in helping students with learning disabilities. In year 13, I tutored chemistry and biology to the year 12s weekly.
As a tutor, I believe that it is important to personalize lessons to fit different students' abilities and learning styles. I start by ensuring my students understand the theory by teaching the content (using visuals and demonstrating exam-style questions as examples). I would then dedicate the remainder of the lesson to quizzing my students to see whether the students understood the lesson + set some exam-style questions to complete in the lesson and as homework. Exam practice is integral in my teaching approach because I understand that a lot of schools do not focus on exam technique, depriving hundreds of students of achieving A-A*s.
