Hi my name is Kerry and I am 32 years old. I am a fully qualified teacher of Psychology, Sociology and related subjects at secondary level, achieving my PGCE at Masters level. In 2010 I gained a first class honours degree in Psychology and Criminology and achieved straight As in my A Level qualifications in Psychology, Biology, Religious Studies and Graphic Design, therefore you can feel assured you will be working with a tutor with a strong subject knowledge. I am currently taking a break from my teaching career to develop my own private tuition business so I also commit all of my time to my individual students. I make sure each student has a personalised tuition experience to ensure they progress most effectively. Please note I am now tutoring at Primary Level as well and already have two students studying with me for entrance exams. I have plenty of experience in Maths and English, due to the nature of my Psychology degree - English and Maths skills are core elements of the subject. I teach both Maths and English skills to my A Level Psychology and Sociology students, so have experience of these subjects to a high standard.

Tutoring Experience

I qualified as a teacher in July 2011. I trained at a secondary school in Sandbach teaching A Level Psychology and Sociology and at a further education college in Crewe teaching A Level Psychology, BTEC Level 3 Health and Social Care and BTEC Level 3 Applied (Forensic) Science. From September 2011 until December 2013, I taught at a secondary school in Derbyshire, teaching A Level Psychology and Sociology. I pride myself on the fantastic working relationships I have built with both staff, but more importantly my students and am proud to have supported my students in achieving some exceptional exam results. I am also employed as an examiner by Edexcel and AQA, examining for both Psychology and Sociology, so have good access to exams information and a quality understanding of the expectations for students. I have also worked with primary-aged students throughout my career on various projects. From September 2015 I restarted my A level teaching in Psychology and have delivered the new specifications for both Edexcel and AQA.

Tutoring Approach

My tuition takes place primarily at my home where my resources are most readily available. I have a second laptop that students can also make use of so we are not restricted to paper resources and face-to-face discussion. I may be able to make some exceptions and travel to tutor, but there will be an additional mileage charge. Please get in touch whatever needs you have and I will try to accommodate where possible.
