Having completed my degree in French at the University of Sussex, I went on to enjoy a career in communications. I spent over 14 years working in internal and external communications for a range of corporate clients in the UK and internationally. I was fortunate to make use of my French on and off through my communications career. I now hope to combine a love of the French language and a passion for plain English to tutor adults and casual learners.
When I was 18 I tutored young French speaking students to support their English language learning.
In 1997-1998 spent some time teaching English at a primary school in Martinique.
In 2021 I began volunteering with a charity providing small group tutoring to British students facing disadvantage. I tutored a group of secondary school aged students in English to support their school studies.
I like to understand the interests of the student and adapt each session in line with their preferences. My expertise in communications informs my approach, enabling me to reflect interests, hobbies, and current affairs and develop vocabulary. Having spent over 14 years in communications, I am passionate about plain English and grammar. I will help students learn how to simplify sentence structure whilst expanding their vocabulary.
