Since graduating, with First Class Honours, from the University of Ulster, I have been teaching at Secondary Level, in a wide range of schools, including a period overseas. I have been a Maths tutor for 25 years. I have also been an Examiner of GCSE (CCEA and Edexcel) for over 20 years.
After several years as a substitute teacher of Maths, Science and Geography, I taught Maths and Science at St Peter's HS in Derry. I then taught Maths (to A-Level) for 5 years in the Middle East (Kuwait and Qatar) before returning to teach in Limavady, Northern Ireland. In the last few years I have been delivering all lessons online and have been effective in raising confidence and achievement in my students.
The student drives tuition. Every student is unique and has unique problems, circumstances and enthusiasms.I make every effort to get to know students so that I can guide and direct their learning. Most students I have worked with have had low confidence and poor prior experience of Maths. I use online resources and traditional texts (as required) as well as my long and varied teaching experience to help make mathematical concepts relevant and simple. I work very hard to bring students to a realisation of their own ability. I also have an attitude to teaching and learning that promotes the pleasure of Maths. I love Maths. So do my students!
