I graduated from The University of Strathclyde in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in English. In 2013 I completed a PGDE and subsequently qualified as a Teacher of English. I have worked with young learners from all different academic backgrounds and I enjoy creating an environment in which students can reach their full academic potential.
I am a charismatic tutor and I believe that creating a friendly and relaxed environment is essential for success. As a subject, English can be incredibly challenging for young learners. I enjoy removing these barriers to learning, and difficulties that students have with the subject, to allow them to flourish and succeed.
I graduated as a fully qualified Teacher of English in May 2013 with Masters credits. I am a dual qualified teacher and teach both History and English at National 5 and Higher level.
I was previously a Principal Teacher of Raising Attainment within the school I work in which demonstrates my unwavering commitment to supporting young people to attain the best grades possible.
I am currently a Princpal Teacher of Guidance and recognise that the positive wellbeing of young people is essential for success.
I have been tutoring privately since 2010. All of the students I have had contact with enjoyed the tuition sessions. My previous tutees have all enjoyed success in their exams and have gained the confidence they need to succeed in Higher Education.
I am also an SQA marker and I believe that this experience is highly beneficial when teaching students exam skills. I have marked both National 5 and Higher exams and therefore have a clear understanding of examination standards.
I believe a holistic approach to tutoring is essential to allow young learners to reach their full academic potential. I am an enthusiastic tutor who enjoys instilling confidence in students to allow them to overcome any difficulties they may be having. All of my tutoring sessions offer challenges to stimulate cognitive development which will allow pupils to enjoy success in the subject of English.
I have a deep knowledge of the Scottish curriculum and the tutoring sessions will focus on the development of exam techniques to allow pupils to approach the examination confidently.
