I hold a degree in Biomedical Science from St George’s University of London, graduating with Honours in Psychology, Psychiatry, and Neuroscience. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in both the life sciences and human behaviour, which I now draw on to support students in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology.
During my final year, I completed a clinical research project comparing the efficacy of pain relief treatments in patients with hand osteoarthritis. This involved analysing real patient data from brain MRI scans, pain scoring systems, and neurometabolite levels—requiring a high level of precision, data interpretation, and scientific communication. These skills have strengthened my ability to break down complex ideas clearly and thoughtfully, both in science and beyond.
Alongside my scientific strengths, I also tutor English Language and Literature. I achieved Band 9s in both during my GCSEs and have a lasting love for the subject, especially its power to shape thought and emotion. As someone with a deep appreciation for literary expression, I enjoy helping students find their voice and approach texts with confidence and clarity.
I’m passionate about making learning structured, approachable, and engaging—whether it’s a scientific concept or a piece of literature. My goal is always to support each student in a way that suits them and helps them feel capable, heard, and motivated.
I began tutoring as a peer mentor in secondary school and have supported students aged 5 to 18 across English, Maths, Sciences, and Psychology. I’ve worked with learners at various key stages including 11+, GCSEs, and A-Levels. I also have experience working with a small tutoring company, where I delivered both one-to-one and small group sessions in face-to-face and online formats.
Beyond academic tutoring, I volunteer at Springfield Hospital’s acute psychiatric ward, where I work with adults of all ages experiencing mental health crises. My role involves guiding patients through structured activities, offering emotional support, and adapting to rapidly changing needs—skills that have greatly shaped my ability to communicate with empathy, build trust, and remain calm under pressure, all of which carry directly into how I support students.
Additionally, I’ve participated in educational outreach through the Teddy Bear Hospital programme, delivering workshops to primary school children to help reduce their fear of hospitals. This experience developed my ability to engage young learners, explain unfamiliar concepts in age-appropriate ways, and create a positive, supportive learning environment.
These experiences have taught me to tutor with patience, clarity, and adaptability—whether I’m helping a student master a difficult concept or simply building their confidence over time.
My teaching style is supportive, engaging, and tailored to the individual. I believe in active learning—lessons are interactive, goal-focused, and paced according to each student’s needs. I combine clear explanations with practice questions, demonstrations, study strategies, and regular feedback to build both confidence and long-term understanding. I aim to make students feel comfortable, capable, and motivated to learn.
Having recently been on the student end myself, I fully understand the stress of juggling multiple subjects and the sheer volume of content students are expected to absorb. Throughout our lessons, I share helpful tips, memory tricks, and techniques I’ve picked up over the years to make learning feel more manageable and effective.
I try to keep lessons relaxed and immersive to create a safe, focused environment where students can engage fully and absorb information at their own pace. I believe learning works best through associations, real-life scenarios, and practical application whenever possible.
I’ve learned from personal experience that understanding content isn’t enough—you need to be able to answer exam questions with precision. That’s why I place strong emphasis on model answers, regular use of exam-style questions, and homework that reinforces what we’ve covered. If needed, I’m always willing to create personalised resources to support a student’s progress.
