I am a highly experienced German teacher with 17 years experience across a range of schools and sectors. I have had nine years experience as Head of German at two top independent schools in Surrey. I currently work part-time, as I have two young twin sons who keep me busy! This also means I am more flexible in providing one to one tuition. I am friendly and approachable and encourage pupils to always ask questions and take an active role in their learning. I am incredibly passionate about Language teaching and 100% focused on unlocking the full potential in all of my pupils.
My teaching has always been rated as outstanding. Year on year and across a wide range of ability levels, my pupils achieve excellent results with top value added, meaning they consistently achieve two to three grades higher than their predicted grade. I believe that a combination of inspirational as well as aspirational teaching is key. One cannot overestimate the value of one to one tuition, where as a teacher you are really able to hone in on weaknesses and areas for improvement and instil real confidence in your learner. I have 10 years of tutoring experience working with pupils from 11-18 across all ability levels.
I ensure that my lessons are engaging but always set out clear aims and objectives on what we will achieve by the end of the lesson. If preparing for an examination then I will always ensure we consolidate with exam style questions which instils confidence in my learners and shows them where they need to get to. Pupils more often than not come to me saying they “don’t understand German Grammar”. One of my key strengths is teaching Grammar in an accessible, engaging and structured way as without a solid foundation of key grammatical items, it is very difficult to progress in a language.
