In my personal life I enjoy family time, walks in the Surrey countryside with my children followed by a nice pub lunch. I am also read a lot about personal development, mental health and well being.
I am originally from County Louth in Ireland, now living in Chertsey, Surrey but have been living in England since 2004. I initially moved to Birmingham to train to teach there. My early years of teaching after I qualified, were spent in inner city London Schools.
Initially I trained in both primary and secondary science education. I have taught the UK National Curriculum for Science to Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 Biology Specialism. 15 years of experience in very different settings from mainstream, co educational and specialist provision schools. I have taught both AQA and Edexcel combined science and single science (triple) Biology up to Year 11 (GCSE).
I initially consult with the student to draw out the skills and knowledge that they already have about the subject, then I create a personalised learning programme for that student to follow in our tutoring sessions together. I will offer optional consolidation homework throughout the programme and I will assess it if it is appropriate or necessary to do so. Usually my clients will buy a package (number of sessions and cost to be agreed prior) to ensure consistency and commitment from both parties, in order for the student to make great progress and to succeed in reaching their learning goal.
