Hi! I'm Katherine. I am a professional teacher of foreign languages with a Master's degree in Linguistics.
I love teaching. Talking to my students always lifts up my mood. I'm also a language fan and a polyglot who speaks 3 languages fluently and is learning a few more now - which means I know exactly what it feels like to be a language learner! My other hobbies include drawing and painting, reading, cooking. I love learning new things and I just love living! I believe that my mission as a teacher is not just to share my knowledge, but also to motivate and inspire my students!

Tutoring Experience

I've been teaching foreign languages for over 7 years. I've mostly been working as a private tutor of English as a foreign language (in which I have a C2 Proficiency certificate), Spanish and Russian (which is my native language). I've also taught foreign languages at the university level for 2 years (in the Higher School of Economics, Moscow), and I've worked at a Cambridge exams centre. I know a lot about different language examination systems as I've had to prepare my students for various exams, such as the IELTS, C1 Advanced and others, and I've also taken a lot of language exams myself throughout my life. So, I'm ready to help you prepare for any exam you need to take!

Tutoring Approach

A typical lesson with me lasts 60 minutes. I usually teach my lessons online through Zoom (but I will also consider meeting you in person if you live in Plymouth). I'm very patient and understanding, and I'm always ready to give you additional explanations and additional exercises when you need them. I will take into account what you would like to learn, such as concentrate on the spoken or written aspects of the language, or help you gain a deeper understanding of the grammar, or expand your vocabulary.

During my lessons, you will receive all the materials you need for successful learning. I have a big library of resources, including different textbooks, additional worksheets and video materials. We will take as much or as little time as you need on each topic until you feel confident and ready to move on. It's also up to you to decide if you want me to give you homework, but if you do, here is a little bonus for you: the marking of homework is included in the price of my lessons!
