Kate

My name is Kate and I have been tutoring for 10 years now, but been working as a teacher for 14 years. I have had various roles in the past, but I am currently working as a Deputy Director of Communications in a secondary school.

I am looking to tutor students through term time or school holidays, to help boost confidence and subject knowledge. I teach both English (both at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level) and English Language A Level and English Literature A-level.

I currently teach Year 7 to Year 13 and am very familiar with AQA, Eduqas and have experience with the Welsh Board. I have also taught English Language A Level with the OCR exam board. I drive so getting to you would be no problem.

I am extremely passionate about teaching. I absolutely love my job and want to inspire and help others, but not just those who I teach regularly. Pride comes from seeing my tutees strive and succeed - even if they don't enjoy English as much as I do!

During school holidays I am available weekday daytimes, but when it is term time, I prefer weeknight after school hours.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience as an Achievement Co-ordinator, Lead Teacher, Key Stage 5 Co-ordinator and am currently Deputy Director of Communications. I have taught English to Years 7-13 throughout my career.

I have experience working as a Learning Support Assistant with students who have Special Educational Needs and students who have English as a second language. I have taught pupils from primary to secondary level and assisted at degree level as well.

Tutoring Approach

I take a creative and fun way to tutoring. Trying to think outside the box whilst giving the learner their own voice is key. I ensure the learner understands what they should be learning and will use a variety of methods to assist them in gaining knowledge.

A professional relationship is key so I get to know my learners the best enabling them to feel comfortable.
