I am a qualified Psychology teacher and since having my 2 little girls have resigned my leadership role to spend more time at home and now work part time. When I'm not teaching or spending time with my family I love running, road and mountain biking and competing in ultra marathons.
17 years' teaching experience in three outstanding schools in Leicestershire and Rutland which has included A Level Psychology and introducing and setting up the EPQ. All schools achieve outstanding results, and last year as Head of Department students achieved 60% A* and 85% A*-A. I have been a senior examiner for AQA for 15 years and am now studying for my Senior Leadership qualification as a SENCO so have a comprehensive understanding of teaching students with a diagnosed educational need/neurodiversity.
My approach is friendly, open but with a clear sense of purpose. After conducting a needs analysis of strengths and weaknesses I provide structure to enable students to ascertain progress. I include regular assessment (which is marked outside sessions) and provision of all materials. I am passionate about the subjects I teach and hope to encourage my students to feel the same and build confidence in a supportive environment.
