Hi, I am a qualified Science teacher and have been teaching Science since 2004, firstly in schools in Hampshire and since 2011 in East Devon. I have a degree in Biology and Chemistry and a PGCE in Secondary Science.
Prior to entering the teaching profession I worked as a Technical Support Specialist for a leading international Biotechnology company and also as a Teaching and Research assistant in the Department of Chemistry at University of Massachusetts, USA.
I live with my family in East Devon.
I have taught GCSE Combined Science and Triple Science for 18 years in Secondary Schools. I have also taught A level Biology in schools and colleges.
I work as an examiner for both GCSE and A Level.
My sessions are led by the requirements of the student. For example some students require help with key knowledge and concepts whilst others require help with exam technique in order to gain maximum marks on questions.
We will work together to identify key words and knowledge for a particular topic and then work through exam questions and mark schemes so that the student gains confidence in answering exam questions on that topic.
We will identify the command works in exam questions so that the student knows what the examiner is looking for in the answer, whether that be a written answer, a calculation or interpreting a graph. We practice until the student has the knowledge, skills and confidence to tackle any exam question.
I currently have very limited availability but I will have more spaces available in June so do enquire.
I also offer tuition in a group, maximum 4 students at £22 per hour.
All online sessions are via Zoom and use a shared interactive whiteboard so that I can see the student's answers to exam questions and we can both annotate them at the same time.
