My passion is working with people to realise their potential. I am enthusiastic, approachable, and a caring mathematics teacher and leader. I have 9 years of experience in teaching mathematics to students aged between 11 and 18. I am also a leader in Mathematics and have undertaken many roles such as Head of Maths, Head of Faculty, KS4 leader and KS5 leader. I have an excellent track record of improving student performance., examples include a student on a grade U achieving a grade 5 (foundation) within 8 months and a student moving from a U to a grade 6 in 5 months. I was a Financial Planning Manager prior to teaching and this allows me to bring Maths to life in an industry setting.

Tutoring Experience

I am a Mathematics teacher and leader at a secondary school where I have taught Mathematics at Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) GCSE foundation and higher tier (Years 10 and 11) and A-level (Years 12 and 13) exams and worked with students retaking their GCSE. I have offered one-to-one mathematics tuition with excellent outcomes for my students at GCSE and SATS. I have also been a examiner for GCSE Mathematics Higher and this has provided me with a great insight how scripts are marked. These strategies are implemented in exam preparation.
Having worked in a leading bank I have excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of the benefits of a good education and the choices/opportunities this allows an individual.
I have a BA in Economics, MA in Finance and PGCE is Secondary Mathematics. I have also several banking qualifications. For me learning has never stopped!

Tutoring Approach

My approach is student-centered and focused on achieving excellent results. Some strategies are outlined:
- Identify areas for improvement using carefully planned assessments,
- Work on the areas identified making rapid progress
- Working at a pace that is comfortable but also challenging the student
- Working with parents/carers as a team offering regular feedback on their childs progress
- Examination preparation using my teaching and examiner experience
