I have just graduated from University studying Japanese with a minor in Korean, but as of yet I do not have my degree certificate. This will be coming in December, but I have passed my course and I'm eager to begin tutoring Japanese.
I have studied the language for 8 years and obtained the GCSE and A-Level in Japanese. At University, I was able to maintain my N2 level Japanese, and now I have finished I'm working towards gaining my N1 officially through the JLPT exam. I am willing to take on students with a range of Japanese knowledge, particularly those with no prior knowledge to those with intermediate level (from N5 to N3). If you are a student looking to go above N3, please contact me to discuss how I can support you in your endeavours.
I am a full time wheelchair user, so it would be difficult for me to travel to you, but not impossible if the teaching area is fully accessible. However, I have a teaching space in my home that I currently use.
During my schooling career, I tutored Maths and Japanese. At University, I held supplementary classes for close friends and classmates also studying Japanese. And most recently, I took on a private student who I have taken through beginner to intermediate Japanese by working towards the GCSE.
I prefer to adapt to the needs of my student rather than keeping to a strict academic schedule. During each lesson, I set aside time to review content previously covered to ensure a student is comfortable with their current knowledge. I also adapt lessons to suit the learning styles of the student, but generally lessons include a warm-up section of flashcards or review from the previous lesson, a middle section of new content, and a final section of sentence writing and translation.
I prefer to use my own made materials to teach that is based on the JLPT and GCSE syllabus, but I am willing to teach from materials that a students may request, if they are more comfortable with that. Homework will only be set if any work during the lesson is unfinished, but I will provide plenty of material for revision.
