Despite not having qualified teacher status, I have a great deal of experience in education through my work in secondary schools in the UK, Kenya and Japan. I now work as a freelance session musician and songwriter/producer as well as releasing my own music and working part-time at a London secondary school. I’m keen to take on more pupils as I have a passion for sharing my skills and knowledge with young learners. In the past, pupils of mine have scored highly in ABRSM exams and GCSE/A Level Music papers with my guidance.
I currently work as a one-to-one piano and singing teacher at a London secondary school, but I have previously worked as a classroom teacher of music in Japan and Kenya. In both countries I taught pupils up to the age of 18 and prepared them for their equivalent of A Level examinations. Before that, I was studying at university, where I was a much sought-after conductor, arranger and performer, often taking the helm of large-scale musical and operatic productions.
I am a patient and understanding teacher who seeks to inspire my students toward success through diligent practise. I'm empathetic enough to remember the difficulty of learning a new skill for the very first time and like to tackle musical problems by breaking them down into their constituent parts.
