Hi everyone! My name is Joe and I'm a maths and physics tutor.
I graduated in the class of 2021 from the university of Nottingham with a 1st class bachelors in Science. I studied Mathematical Physics, which is basically where abstract maths meets reality. Examples are differential geometry being used to describe general relativity and group theory used to describe theoretical elementary particle physics.
Outside of teaching I split my time between training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which I plan to do professionally and volunteering with St. Johns Ambulance as emergency ambulance crew.
I have one year experience tutoring ALevel and GCSE, mathematics and physics.
My teaching style is friendly and informal. Learning is best done in a stress free, supporting environment where you feel comfortable being confused. The primary skill needed to excel in maths and physics is problem solving, and the best way to learn this is practice. Repetition gives you a feel for mathematics in a way that cannot be taught through description, the student needs to experience it. My lessons will focus on solving problems together and discussing the thought processes behind what they are doing, so that the student can become versatile in their approach.
