Hi! My name is Joe and I am currently studying a Masters in Museums and Collections at the University of Leiden, Netherlands. I received my undergraduate degree in Art History in 2021 from St Andrews University, whilst also studying, Ancient History, Theology and Classics for my first two years.
My teaching experience varies between age ranges and disciplines. I have tutored both A-Level and GCSE students for friends and have taught various instruments to younger people, usually between the age of 9 and 13.
I primarily base my teaching around the student. I seek to understand the areas where they need help and the methods that they respond to best. In some cases this might mean engaging in readings together or working through homework assignments together, however, I am willing to use any method to teach in order to help the student learn. For older students (A-Level, mainly) I think writing samples and small written tasks are the best methods to help them pass their exams. This means that their feedback rate majorly increases and allows for a development of critical writing and research skills. I often find that small written tasks set by me also allow for writing practice and improvement.
