Calm and considerate with students, I am a qualified Maths teacher with 13 years experience of teaching and tutoring Maths at GCSE and A Level. I have 5 years teaching experience at a secondary school but over the last 8 years I have concentrated on one to one tuition which has been very successful. I have taught and currently teach Maths to students who are at school and need support but also provide entire delivery of the secondary curriculum to many home schooled students.
13 years teaching and tutoring experience, 5 years of which was at a secondary school. I wanted to concentrate on teaching students and found that tuition was the perfect role for me.
Everything I teach is geared towards the student’s ability, providing appropriate challenge and support. My lessons develop from Assessment for Learning which means that one assesses where a student is in terms of their learning and then design the best way forward. This is really important as there are no assumptions made by the teacher and often misconceptions or gaps in a student's learning surface and are rectified. It is not uncommon for Higher GCSE and sometimes A Level students to recognise that they struggle with something that was originally considered at Primary school. Discovering these gaps in a student's learning is key to moving forward, gaining confidence and achieving better grades. For this reason, nothing is prescribed and everything is developed insitu, and suited to the individual.
Nearly all my teaching is online, one to one, and I use a platform called Bramble which provides a recording of each session for the student to view and refer to in the future.
