My name is John Removed and I am a maths tutor based in Cowbridge, covering the Vale of Glamorgan, including Cowbridge, Barry, and also Bridgend, Penarth and Cardiff.
I have worked at schools in Fareham and Portsmouth. For the past few years I have worked at Charter Academy, City Girls School in Portsmouth and Neville Community School in Fareham also providing one to one support. This went extremely well and full references can be provided.
I am very well qualified with a Maths degree, PGCE teaching qualification, CRB check and have extensive experience, over 13 years, of one to one tutoring where I feel I make a real difference to all my students.
Building confidence is extremely important in students in what can be a challenging subject and I like to be very approachable and friendly. The feedback has been very positive and my students have achieved excellent grades. A full and extensive list of references can be provided from parents, students and old employers.
I hope you get in touch and I can be of help.
I first started teaching and tutoring in Cardiff and South Wales after obtaining a Maths Degree and then teacher training in Cardiff University. Since teaching I've moved in to private tuition where I feel I can make a real difference and have extensive experience in Cardiff and South Wales and more recently Portsmouth and Hampshire.
I moved to Portsmouth several years ago and have a number of endorsements from satisfied parents and pupils. I have also worked part time in Portsmouth, tutoring in St. Lukes School and Charter Academy as well as privately.
When in Wales I also worked in the Finance Industry for a company that provides outsource work for pension and endowments and also for a couple of Independent Financial Advisors. I hold quite a few professional qualifications in finance.
After working in these areas I know how important maths is for students and appreciate a bit about the world of work in whatever career path students decide to take.
One of my recent tutoring references is from Graham in Bridgend and his Daughter Erin who successively acheived A* at Gcse and A at AS level both with my help. She exceeded her predicted grades. Also there's a reference just prior to this from Kate and her son who successfully sat the additional Maths paper whilst doing his GCSEs and got a A star in Statistics under my tutelage. I'm also successfully tutored her younger son and also one of her neighbours who she referred me to.
Building confidence is extremely important in students in what can be a challenging subject and I like to be very approachable and friendly. The feedback has been very positive and my students have achieved excellent grades.I have worked one to one with a wide variety of ages and levels and believe it is important to build confidence in students adopting a friendly approach and often concentrating on basics such as fractions, percentages and decimals which is a crucial foundation.
The same is true for algebra at AS/A Level and it is very important to make a challenging subject accessible, regularly review progress and for brighter students provide motivation with challenging tasks and problems whilst keeping an eye on the basics and what’s needed for the exam.
One to one is the ultimate teaching in that it is very flexible, delivery and pace can be adjusted entirely on the learning speed of the student and every student is different!
