I am a retired teacher of English with a bachelor's and a master's degree in English from the University of London, but I still enjoy helping young people to learn; since I retired from school teaching I have worked in school libraries and have been working with individual tutees.
Tutoring Experience:
l have a wide experience of teaching and tutoring and have taught English Language and Literature at comprehensive, grammar and independent schools up to A level and university entrance, and have taught and managed programmes at Adult Learning Centres. I have also tutored individual students.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a flexible and practical approach which is designed to fit in with the students’ individual needs and with the work that they do at school. I aim to develop confidence in students so that they or can deal with all questions rather than train them to answer specific examination questions and I aim to help them enjoy their studies more, as well as improving their grades.I also help students to take control of and organise their own learning.
I am happy to take on students who wish to follow a longer- term programme and those who have a more specific short term need.
