I am a trained professional actor, with experience of Television, Film and large West End productions. I have recently completed a 10 month run of The Mousetrap, in which I was playing the lead role. However, beyond that, I have a passion and drive for acting which I wish to impart to others.
My specialism is preparing candidates for the rigorous audition process for Drama School. Having been through the process several times, and having sat on an audition panel myself, I am acutely aware of the requirements of the audition process, including, the do's and don'ts of the interviews, and how to prepare for the recalls.
Given the extremely competitive nature of the industry, I am really passionate that people give themselves the best possible chance to succeed and I feel my experience and expertise can get them into the school they want... (Yes including RADA!)
In addition, I have worked in all sectors of the industry such as TV, Film, and stage, and have a working knowledge of the requirements and expectations of each.
To sum up, I believe that too many talented individuals fall by the wayside in this industry, and my goal is to provide the knowledge and support to help talented young actors realise their potential, and carve out a successful career in the performing arts.
I have experience of running workshops on movement, speeches, stage combat, and so have a great deal of experience at communicating and transferring information.
I have worked one-on-one to prepare people for the audition process, focusing on the strengths that audition panels look for. I have also developed techniques for improving voice, poise and stage presence.
I come from a family of teachers and so have taken the practices and techniques that are used to raise pupils standards, and adapted it to my way of teaching drama.
I have experience at working in schools with A-level and GCSE students, and helping them prepare for a career in the performing arts.
I am patient and good natured, and I am able to tailor the session to the requirements of the pupil. I always believe that preparation is the key when teaching drama or preparing for an audition. I tend to take a very practical approach, starting with simple voice and movement exercises which can be practiced and learnt independently.
I am able to apply an array of techniques to scripts such as text analysis and character development, all aimed at improving confidence and self awareness. I am experienced in preparing modern pieces and Shakespeare monologues.
Overall, my approach is to identify strengths in pupils which can be built on so that they can improve their acting to the point where they feel ready for drama school entry or GCSE/A-level performance. Similarly, I am adept to identifying areas where they are weaker, and I use a range of techniques to improve, voice and movement.
My aim is to bring out the best in my pupils and allow them to reach their full potential.
