I have a BSc in Zoology (St Andrews); MSc in Freshwater Biology (London); Advanced Diploma in Environmental Decision-Making (OU); and PGCE (Portsmouth).
My specialities are Biology and Environmental Sciences, but I am equally at home with the three Sciences: Physics, Chemistry and Biology and with Maths to GCSE level.
I have worked in industry and for the UK government in Britain and overseas, and thus can offer my students a wide perspective. I speak fluent Spanish and German, and sail in the summer.

Tutoring Experience

I have over ten years' experience of one-to-one tutoring A-Level Biology and Environmental Science and GCSE Sciences and Maths, and my students' results have been consistently above their predicted grades. I previously taught the Sciences at GCSE and A Level / International Bacchalaurate in both the state and private sectors.
I currently work and have students with all the English exam boards: AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas, OCR, etc.

Tutoring Approach

Sessions are invariably tailored specifically to the student's needs and ability. My aim is to encourage and support my students by reinforcing their formal classwork and assisting them with the specified materials in a manner designed to enhance their knowledge and strengthen their understanding.
Where appropriate, I draw on my personal experience and expertise, and sessions are reinforced with my own written notes and exam questions from past papers.
I recognise the anxiety caused by public examinations, and place particular emphasis on exam technique as the exam season approaches.
