I am a secondary English teacher with experience of teaching in grammar schools and secondary comprehensives. I also have experience of teaching English as a second language and creative writing and have taught both disciplines in adult learning environments.

Tutoring Experience

After working in a cultural relations organisation in London I moved to Dorset and retrained as a teacher. There is a lot to be said for entering the profession later and as a mother: I have current knowledge of the curriculum and of the challenges it represents to young people. In school I have taught GCSE and A level as well as literacy and so I draw on diverse experience, from reluctant to enthusiastic learners.

Tutoring Approach

My style is to ensure that all students can see their own potential in my subject and that it is relevant to everyone. I am equally pleased to offer literacy support to students who wish to attain a higher standard in reading and writing and who struggle in a classroom environment.
