Languages are not just what I teach—they’re what I love. With over 20 years of experience teaching French and Spanish in Inverclyde, I bring both deep subject knowledge and a dynamic, student-focused approach to every session.
I’m enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to helping learners thrive—whether they’re preparing for exams, looking to boost their confidence, or simply want to enjoy learning a new language. I completed an additional teaching qualification in Spanish in 2010, and I continue to stay connected with the cultures I teach through regular travel to France and Spanish-speaking countries.
Based in Glasgow’s West End, I tailor my lessons to meet individual goals and learning styles. My students would describe me as firm but fair—with a strong sense of humour and a genuine commitment to their progress.
If you’re looking for high-quality, engaging language tuition, I offer a professional and personalised service backed by decades of experience.
I graduated in 1999 from Strathclyde University and have been teaching French ever since. I have taught all levels from Primary 6 - S6. This is my 10th year teaching Advanced Higher French and I have taught Higher French for 19 years. I also mark Higher French papers for the SQA. I am always extremely proud of the certificated results I achieve. I have taught N5 Spanish for 10 years and Higher Spanish for 3 years. I am also a verifier for the SQA for N5 and Higher Spanish. I taught in several schools in Glasgow before I got my permanent contract in Inverclyde. To date, I have already successfully tutored many students and I enjoy the opportunity to get to know my students on a one-to-one basis and watching their progress.
I take a structured, supportive approach to tuition, backed by a wealth of high-quality resources. I’m happy to provide tailored materials to suit each learner’s needs and goals.
Lessons focus on all four key language skills—Reading, Listening, Talking, and Writing—along with vocabulary building, verb practice, and effective exam techniques. I encourage weekly homework (reading or written), which we review together to reinforce learning.
Tutees are also welcome to bring any schoolwork they need help with, and I’m happy to check over work completed at home. Each session is designed to build confidence, strengthen skills, and support consistent progress.
