I have recently graduated from the University of Cambridge, with a first class honours degree in psychology. Next year I will be starting my master's degree in psychology at the University of Oxford.
At A level I achieved A* grades in psychology, maths, chemistry, and biology, giving me a broad and balanced background to understand and teach the psychology A level syllabus. I am due to start my psychology masters course at the University of Oxford in September 2023.
I have a wide range of personal interests, including sport, music, travel, and being outdoors. For most of my life I have played football and netball competitively (including two seasons at Manchester United Women!), and have recently taken up rowing. I play the piano and guitar, and enjoy attending live music concerts in my spare time.
I am punctual, enthusiastic, flexible, and approachable.
I am currently a psychology A level tutor in a sixth form, conducting small group sessions that target student areas of development. I have much experience in private tutoring for psychology, with very high student satisfaction, improvement in grades, and positive student-teacher relationships. Due to my recent degree studies, I am knowledgeable and up to date with current psychological affairs and research, as well as being familiar and confident with psychology A level syllabuses.
Additionally, I have experience teaching Maths and English GCSE in two high schools. I have also worked with young adults with a wide range of disabilities and individual learning needs for over five years, providing one-to-one care, leading activity sessions, and acting as a mentor for those struggling personally.
Private tuition offers a unique opportunity for learners to perfect their strengths and focus on areas of weakness in a supportive environment. My aim is to make sessions enjoyable, relatable, and beneficial. I start with understanding the level the student is currently working at and identifying any problems that may be preventing them from reaching their full potential. Sessions will then target these areas (whether that be subject content, evaluation, essay structure, SPAG, exam technique, etc), whilst consolidating and extending existing knowledge. Having recently taken many psychology-related exams, I can advise on effective note-taking and revision strategies to help students maximise their learning.
From my experience, learning is most effective when it is fun and engaging. As well as focussing on exam proficiency, I tailor lessons to appeal to the student's interests. I am very passionate about my subject and hope to pass this on in my lessons!
