Tutoring Experience

II am a passionate and skilled teacher with 13 years of experience. I specialise in A-Level Law, and A-Level Politics, both of which I have led for 11 years. I have also been a Head of Social Sciences since 2017, managing a number of departments and have taught GCSE Sociology and Psychology. I have an excellent track record of success at A-Level, and have consistently helped students to achieve or exceed their target grades. I have always received excellent feedback on my teaching and have delivered much CPD to my colleagues on effective teaching. I pride myself on building a strong rapport with students and will always endeavour to support them as much as possible. I enjoy the creativity of lesson planning, and my students have always commented on my passion and genuine enjoyment of teaching. I have a good sense of humour and plenty of patience and I am approachable and diligent.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring will be tailored specifically to the needs of the tutee, whether that be in subject content, the specific skills needed to succeed in the examination or a mixture of both.

I will provide a selection of high quality resources for the tutee from worksheets and handouts that will be used in the session to comprehensive revision guides that I have produced.

My priority is to ensure that the student feels comfortable and to this end I pride myself on my approachable manner. I am patient and understanding and will use many different teaching strategies to ensure that the tutee fully understands the material covered.

I will assist the student with homework if necessary and can set them additional work to complete outside of the session. This ensures that I am able to monitor progress and offer valid feedback. This will also aid me with planning effective and tailored lessons. I will however ensure that the extra work set will not conflict with existing school or college commitments.

I will ensure that my tutee is able to contact me outside of a session and can provide support and advice via email when necessary. I am happy to provide more sessions during exam periods.
