Maths Tuition in Hereford

I live in Hereford with my family, I have a three year old daughter and a son who is not yet one. At weekends we enjoy spending time with family and friends and being active, going for walks in the countryside, swimming, dancing and we love a farm visit!

I lived in Bristol for a few years with my husband whilst we were completing our studies. Both of us and our families are from Hereford and we are now enjoying raising our children here with our families close by.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked full time for 10 years teaching in primary schools in Bristol and Herefordshire. I am a qualified teacher who has an interest in trying to understand barriers to learning and try to work creatively to overcome them. I have a special interest in Child Development in the Early Years and this has supported my teaching throughout all year groups at Primary age. I think it is important to look at children holistically and understand their strengths and interests to support them to make progress in other areas.

I have experience in every primary age group and nurseries. I have supported children to progress rapidly in phonics to support their reading. I have supported children with passing their multiplication test in year 4. I have also taught 'booster' classes for children sitting their year six SATS tests in English and Maths. I have an interest in supporting children socially and emotionally to be able to attend to teaching to learn. I have experience of working with children with varying special educational needs to learn. I am able to support with any aspects of Primary English and Maths, support with homework or whatever should be needed to support learning. My teaching can take a creative approach, whether that be through practical activities or otherwise.

Tutoring Approach

I like to try to really understand children’s differing needs and adapt teaching to match each child. I feel that working with children on their, very individualised, next step is how the best learning and progress happens. If we can look at children holistically and understand their strengths and interests the best learning will follow.
