I am a qualified English teacher with over 12 years’ experience. I have a passion for teaching children of all abilities and would love to be able to work with children who can benefit from my undivided attention on a 1:1 or very small group basis.
I have over a decade’s worth of teaching experience, with many years acting as Lead Practitioner for English, and Whole School Literacy Coordinator. I have worked with students of all abilities, including those with SEN and those who are relatively new to English, on a regular basis. I have worked in schools where there are lots of high ability students as well as schools with lots of behavioural difficulties, so I am experienced in being able to approach all students as individuals and tailoring my teaching to suit each student’s needs.
I am friendly and approachable, encouraging students to ask questions. I have clear methodical approaches to essay writing which makes hitting the bullet points on GCSE mark schemes much easier, alongside investigatory and fun exploration of texts and writing skills to encourage a love of English and development of skills. I will scaffold learning as much as is needed and then work to build the student’s skills and confidence to gradually remove these scaffolds.
