Hi! My name is Jeff and I am an economist and journalist in London. My academic background is in science, engineering, and economics, and I would love to help university students understand these fields better!
I was a class teacher (graduate teaching assistant) at the LSE during my master's degree, where I taught economics to first-year students and macroeconomics and advanced econometrics to summer school students.
I was also a mentor on the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad team, leading some of Canada's most talented high school students in international competition.
Finally, I have tutored privately since I was in high school, and in recent years, have often tutored students in more specialised, second- and third-year university courses.
I like to identify, with the student, where he/she thinks his/her weak points are, and make sure that the student understands the fundamentals before moving onto the next step. I often find that knowledge -- especially in a course -- is cumulative, so it's essential that students master the basics. I also like asking students to explain the material to me -- when they can do that successfully, I know they understand!
