I am a fully qualified maths teacher with 15 years of experience. I teach in a high performing Stockton-on-Tees based secondary school. I teach GCSE maths up to age 16 and I have been teaching secondary school maths for 13 years. I graduated in 2008 from Keele University with a 2:1 in mathematics with education studies and in 2009 I achieved my PGCE through Durham University. I live in Redcar and I have a strong passion for maths and problem solving in my spare time.
I have been working as a maths teacher for 15 years and nine years ago I was made second in charge of the maths department. My main responsibility is for developing and ensuring progress across the department. I have had a GCSE class every year since I became a teacher and I have taught students from both the foundation and the higher strands. My results have always been above national average and the progress my students have made has always been judged at either good or outstanding.
I believe tutoring should be relaxed but focused. I aim to deliver a session where the student feels comfortable but with a strong emphasis on technique and practice to built up the student's skills and confidence. For GCSE tutition I am a strong believer in exam practice, both in lessons and as homework to make sure the student can apply those skills to vital examination questions
