I am a retired maths teacher and live in Swindon. I have always enjoyed the interaction with young people as a teache3
Maths has always been a particular interest of mine.
In my tuition I do my best to find the parts of the subject that a tutee needs to practise. Gaining confidence is the key to solving unfamiliar problems.
I taught A level maths and further maths at a local college of Further Education for over 20 years. I am equally confident with teaching pure mathematics, mechanics and statistics.
More recently I have been tutoring A level maths one to one.
During the covid pandemic I have tutored using zoom and have enjoyed the experience immensely. My tuttees have gained confidence during our time together and reached above their predicted grades and achieved their target grades. As the A level exams approached several tutees wanted more than the usual one hour per week. Being retired I could accommodate their needs.
As a teacher I was proud of my results and often had a high value added score.
I consider myself as a kind and sensitive tutor, keen to encourage a student to believe in themselves.
Confidence is important in maths, especially in problem solving. I do my best to help a student to break topics into smaller steps building up a fuller understanding and encouraging the tutee to "have a go".
