I am a fully qualified (PGCE and QTS) English teacher with 12 years of experience in state secondary schools. I retrained as an English teacher after a successful career in national journalism, PR and copywriting. I also provide coaching in public speaking.
I recently completed an MA in Creative Writing and Publishing and have written a novel for Young Teens.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching secondary school English (at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5) in East and West Sussex since 2011. I have supported my students to achieve outstanding results at GCSE, with more than 90% getting on or above their target grades (and more than 50% of these reaching above target). I've also taught and tutored students in A Level Language (AQA) and Literature (OCR).

Tutoring Approach

I take a supportive and personalised approach to teaching, identifying and addressing what my students need in order to build their confidence, understanding and skills.
I challenge them to think independently and look at the bigger societal and contextual picture, as well as the detail of language and structure.
