I am an Assistant Headteacher at a mixed comprehensive school with over 10 years experience working in religious education.
I have a passion for the subject and the importance of integrating faith into the educational curriculum. The diversity of our community means that my subject can only bring about religious tolerance, equality and mutual respect amongst all within our society. I consider teaching to be my vocation which I thoroughly enjoy. Tutoring would be a great way to broaden my experience in education.
I have over 10 years experience and have had some experience with tutoring during lockdown. I have been a teaching assistant, form tutor, head of year, key stage coordinator, chaplain and am now an assistant headteacher.
I have working in a number of settings and have developing my own pedagogy by completed a NPQSL and a number of courses with the National College.
My teaching approach is one of facilitation. I try to ensure the work is done by the student to develop their own understanding and my role is to guide them on the right path. Teaching religious education means that there are specific things to know, but so many ways to learn them. I like to use different methods of teaching such as quizzes, kahoot, memory games, key word challenges and the fundamental teaching of exam practice questions.
