I am a enthusiastic and supportive teacher of Physical Education, with a real passion for my subject. I have helped many students secure the top grades at both GCSE and A-level. My greatest enjoyment in teaching comes through watching students make progress, meeting or exceeding their target grades, enabling them to access their first choice further education courses or careers.

At university I studied Sport and Exercise Science, graduating with a 1st Class Honours degree. I went on to complete a Graduate Teaching Position at one of the countries top grammar schools. My sports background has involved competing at semi-professional rugby as well as playing many other sports.

Tutoring Experience

With over a decade of experience teaching Physical Education, I have developed an excellent knowledge of the curriculum at all key stages, especially GCSE and A-level. I am currently a GCSE marker/moderator for AQA exam board, enabling me to provide students with precise feedback and how to correct common mistakes.

I have experience of working with students of all ability levels, having taught both girls and boys. Over my career I have held many leadership roles, including Head of Year, Assistant Head of Sixth Form and Head of Physical Education.

I specialise in all aspects of GCSE Physical Education, including both Paper 1 and Paper 2, in addition to the coursework.

At A-level I have taught all aspects of the course, specialising in Applied Anatomy & Physiology, Skill Acquisition, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanical Movement, Sport Psychology, and coursework component.

Tutoring Approach

I like to build confidence in the students that I teach, through support and encouragement. My tutoring is tailored to the ability and needs of each individual student, this approach enables me to appropriately stretch and challenge them, unlocking their potential.

I teach students to fully understand the assessment objectives of the course, so that they can understand what exam questions are really asking for. Often students know the content but misinterpret the purpose of the question.

I provide access to past exam questions and practice tests, ensuring students have had full exposure to the style of questions they will face in the actual exam. This enables both the student and I to measure progress and determine what areas require further development.

In addition to standard tutoring I can also provide a service to record video footage for your son or daughters coursework. Parents are often left to record game footage with little guidance, however the requirements from the exam board are very specific. I can use my expertise to not only record the best quality footage, but capture performances from the best angles, ensure the footage meets exam board requirements and provide commentary sheets to highlight key aspects of the performance. This often leads to higher marks for your coursework and allows parents to concentrate on watching the game. I supply all of the equipment and give you the final product on an SD card that can be submitted to your school.
