Hello and 您好! My name is James. I have realised that Chinese has become a more and more popular language worldwide recently due to the increased economic activities China does with the rest of the world. It is the most widely spoken language in the world (approx. 1.3 billion Chinese speakers in the world). It is also one of the six official languages in the UN. It is now a trend that in order to be a successful business person or even a professional in other aspects, it is important to acquire the ability to speak Chinese and to understand the Chinese culture.

As a Chinese Language Support Officer at University of Exeter and an ex Chinese Teacher at a private school (Trinity School in Teignmouth, Devon), I would like to promote the Chinese language and culture as much as I can. I am now offering private Chinese lessons at a learner-friendly price in the Torbay and South Devon area. The price is as below:

PRIVATE ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS LESSONS (GCSE/AS/AL/UNIVERSITY)

Graduated with a Business and Economics background and seeing pupils at my school struggling with their Business and Economics school work, I also offer private Economics and Business lessons for those who need help with their school work outside school. Price is as below:

As a hobby, I do a lot of martial arts. I had extensive training in Thai boxing (Muay Thai), Wing Chun, Brazilian Jiujitsu and Filipino Kali and I was the Tertiary Education Muay Thai Champion in Hong Kong in 2007. I also used to give private martial arts/self-defence lessons.

Tutoring Approach

From my teaching experience in the private school, I found that friendliness and a sense of humour are extremely important to catch students' attention, regardless of their age and ability. I always teach with the help of images, videos, and pictures because visual memories are 100 times better than verbal.

Of course, it is also essential to differentiate different pupils' abilities and progress, and to teach accordingly. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all in education.
