I am an educator, writer, photographer and love working with people to make a positive difference in their lives. I have a creative approach to life, including my work, and believe that all humans have untapped potentials deep within. I believe that learning in life never ends, and that it is never too early or too late for a person to develop a love of learning.
I have a vast range of teaching experience, both here in the UK and overseas. I have taught in schools, colleges, universities, in classrooms, online, and at home. I have taught all ages, from early years to seniors and everything in between - schoolchildren, students, adults, and students whose first language is not English. I have worked in syllabus and curriculum design and development and as an assessor in Higher Education.
My approach to private tutoring is always student-led. I spend time finding out what the student enjoys about the subject, what they feel is difficult or challenging and I begin from there to implement a plan of action worked out with the student as to how we will arrive at the goal we set together. This way of working, alongside rather than from above or in front, helps to create a good working relationship with the student from which we can build confidence and skills together. I am kind, patient, and able to tailor questions, exercises and activities as appropriate. If the student is taking exams, I have experience in teaching Study Skills to college students and so am able to help the student identify where they feel they are weak before coming up with strategies to help address this.
