Private Maths and English Tutor in Hornchurch

I am a fully qualified teacher with experience in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

I have an upper second class honours degree in English and Creative Writing (Bachelor of Arts).

After completing my degree, I went on to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at the University of East London where I was awarded Qualified Teaching Status (QTS).

I have been praised on my approach to teaching and on my ability to build a rapport quickly with children. I am very enthusiastic and passionate about my profession.
When it comes to tutoring, I take on the same approach as I strongly believe, that with 1:1 support, all children are capable of thriving in an educational setting. My main aim is to create confident learners who do not shy away from a challenge.

In terms of availability, I am able work flexibly all year around including weekends.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked in English speaking primary schools both in England and China for the past 10 years. As a qualified primary school teacher, I am aware of the learning challenges your child may face at primary school as I am very familiar with the British curriculum. I have experience of working with year groups from 1 to 6 - so across KS1 and KS2.

At my most recent teaching post, I taught year 6, so I am very knowledgeable about KS2 SATs and the very high expectations that are attached to them. I have an excellent knowledge of what is expected of a child in order to pass their exams.

In the past, I have successfully tutored KS1, KS2 and pupils preparing for their GCSEs.

Tutoring Approach

I always approach learning with great positiveness and enthusiasm. From experience I know that, if children are not able to have some sort of fun whilst they are learning, they will not engage fully in what they are doing. I enjoy creating and playing educational games to enhance learning further. I will provide children with their own work books that they will be able to keep at home as this allows them to not only look at their previous work but feel proud of how much they have progressed in their learning. I plan tutoring sessions to suit the particular needs of the child that is being supported, ensuring that they build confidence and work hard to solve problems.
