I am a current medical student studying at a Russel Group University. I thoroughly enjoy my course and learning, but didn't have much support from school/college when applying. As such I immensely enjoy supporting college and GCSE students with their university applications and entrance exams and have been successful in doing so with many students.
I have been tutoring for several years now and thoroughly enjoy it, especially when I get messages from parents showing their appreciation for the improvement in their child's attitude to learning as well as grades. With +200 hours of tutoring experience over 5 subjects and 10+ year groups, I have been able to fine tune my teaching methods to ensure a grade attainment of B-A* among my students.
I achieved A*A*A in my A-Levels and the following grades in my GCSEs: Maths -9, English -8, Science -9, Spanish -9, Cantonese -9, Geography -8, Urdu -A
I have been tutoring over multiple platforms since 2020 and have had the privilege of providing support to students from a vast array of backgrounds. From tutoring neighbourhood children during my GCSEs, to now teaching students globally I have been able to gain valuable experience and expand my scope. This has allowed me to gain a new perspective on teaching and learning and has allowed me to become more flexible and versatile in my teaching methods as I have a more in-depth understanding of the multitude of ways different students learn.
When tutoring, I try to find the student’s weaker topics and use this to ensure the student is getting tailored support that provides them with the understanding and practice required in these areas.
Furthermore, I find that when learning new things, it’s most effective to utilise spaced repetition and frequent testing. This allows us to learn much faster by filling any gaps in knowledge and allows the information to be stored in the long-term memory which will make revision easier when exams are near. This technique has proven very effective with my students, and I will be using this as the basis for my lesson-planning.
Though this is very effective with most students, there are often exceptions in which case I adjust my teaching to the learning style of the student.
