Hi, my name is Izzy, it is nice to meet you! I am a recent modern languages graduate, specialising in Spanish, German and French. I have experience living in France and Spain and I am passionate about languages and transmitting this passion onto others.

Tutoring Experience

With exam season approaching, your children may be needing a little extra help to ensure that they feel confident and achieve their full potential.

I offer personalised tutoring sessions in Spanish, German, and French at all levels.

Having a First Class Honours degree in modern languages, I have years of experience learning languages. I know what learning methods have worked for myself and for others, and the key aspects needed to succeed.

Additionally, having completed GCSE and A-level German and Spanish, I have ample experience with these exams and I am familiar with the skills needed to succeed. I currently tutor German at GCSE level, which I have received excellent feedback from.

I have also worked as an Au-pair in Spain for a month, and worked at an after school club for two years, making me empathetic and understanding towards children, and I am passionate about inspiring and supporting them in their educational journey.

Tutoring Approach

I am very patient and empathetic with all children attempting to learn a language as I have first hand experience being in that overwhelming and vulnerable position where you are trying to learn something new. I try to make things as exciting as possible as I know the key is engagement and try to tailor my classes to the student's interests as much as possible. I also adapt my classes to their preferred learning methods, which I also pick up on as classes progress. I try to include at least three interactive activities per session and focus on recall from previous classes as this is optimal for information entering long term memory. I also ensure that both listening and speaking exercises are included in every class as these skills are the ones students feel most uncomfortable with. I always create powerpoints using colours and images to explain new concepts in a clear way as I believe this helps break down complex topics into a more digestible way of understanding. Being a visual learner myself, I understand the importance of making presentations as clear as possible and I always did well in my university assignments where I had to do so.
